do we post the station name or the gas brand name for same station?
what is the protocol for this?

what if a station named Shamrock is labelled "Diamond shamrock" in the gas price postings is this the correct way even though the two are related?

im in the middle of sorting out a confusion with another member in our site posting the wrong station name but need a ruling on this one

(cant find it in FAQ's)

rumbleseat's right--they're different brands even though they're part of the same company. If the station sign looks like this, it should be reported as Shamrock, but if it looks like this, call it Diamond Shamrock.

In my experience the Diamond Shamrock stations typically are newer and have more selection in the c-store, while Shamrock stations are older (often converted from another brand) and more spartan.

Lost my editing time, but I have dug deeper, and I believe Ultramar Diamond Shamrock actually labels the stations as Diamond Shamrock.
Valero operates stations under several names, I believe, including Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Ultramar, Shamrock, and Beacon.
So I would assume a Diamond Shamrock station is a Diamond Shamrock station, and a Shamrock station would be a Shamrock station, depending on the actual name on the signage.

Actually it is in the Price Posting Guidelines, which are usually posted by the moderators in the local forum, and pinned to the top. It doesn't seem to be in all locales for some reason, but I copy this from the one posted in our forum, which is the same as posted in other GB sites I have participated in.
Now we don't have Shamrock here, or Diamond Shamrock, but is not Diamond Shamrock actually Ultramar Diamond Shamrock?

Posting Station Names:

We generally list stations by brand. We also ask that when possible, you add the c-store name in the Comments field which will appear within () in the address line, like this:

Shell
123 Main St & Cross St (Bob's)

If the the station is an independent, just use the station's name then. Also, if you find yourself with enough room to add any additional information, just leave it out then.

Also, we ask that you not personalize your station names. Personalizing station names causes the station to only be searchable by area, and not by brand. For example:

Members searching for "Shell" stations in the drop down list would not see your station listing, which is why it should be posted as "Shell", and not "Bob's Shell". Any additional information should be placed in the Comments field which will appear within () in the address line, like this:

(example)
Shell
123 Main St & Cross St (Bob's)
